...while a promising career lay ahead of them,
tragedy would ultimately end the band abruptly.
Allmusic biography of Blind Melon
Blind Melon was lead singer Shannon Hoon, guitarists Christopher Thorn and Rogers Stevens, bassist Brad Smith, and drummer Glenn Graham. The band was formed in Los Angeles, California. They released two albums before their lead vocalist died of a drug overdose on the band's tour bus in New Orleans on October 21, 1995.

Bass player Brad Smith wrote most of "No Rain." At the time, he was dating a girl who was going through depression. She slept on sunny days and complained that it didn't rain. Brad told Songfacts:

"The song is about being unable to get out of bed and find excuses to face the day when you have really, in a way, nothing.Though he wrote it, Brad says lead singer Shannon Hoon took it to a new level with his vocals. "That was a good song, and Shannon made it great."

Bee Girl

The single was released in September 1992. The video features Heather DeLoach, a 10-year-old girl dressed in a bee costume. The album eventually attained quadruple-platinum status, debuting in the Billboard Top 40 on October 9, 1993.
